Which wern't caused by Ida, but by invest 96E

However, Ida, which passed to the east of El Salvador three days ago, is not thought to have directly caused the severe rains.

The BBC's weather centre said El Salvador's rains were mainly caused by a separate low pressure system in the Pacific.

Very sad news.

shows that even the smallest of systems can cause major problems.

Indeed, invest 96E looked well organised for a while, and almost made it to tropical depression strength. In fact, proximity to Hurricane Ida probably hindered development. But indeed, you don't need a system to be a fully fledged tropical cyclone to cause death and destruction. Sad news indeed.
