Anticipation time- the sky is going very bright white in the reflections from the streetlights, and a fine drizzle seems to be falling. The radar suggests it should be upon us within half an hour.

Err... this band has been travelling exceptionally slowly after being about 10 miles away from Lancaster! Now very cold and windy, but where's the snow? (or rain?)

Then again, the GFS Precipitation forecasts did suggest that it would slow down somewhat as it got to the North West- and as many will be aware by now, the GFS Precipitation forecasts seem to be astonishingly accurate within a 48 hour range.

And here is the forecast for Birmingham, United Kingdom at 23:39 hours on 11th March 2004..... (Trying to make it sound like the Radio 4 shipping forecast, but failing miserably! :( )

Cold.

Currently snowing, has been since 9:40pm, albeit in a fine powder form and not as yet settling, just serving to create a wet ground.

Not expecting to wake up to a white scene in any case, :( but would like to be proved wrong. The only time where humble pie would never have tasted so good. :(

Phil.

Being an Environmental Mathematician, I will use a common mathematical procedure. Substitution.

In that statement, Lancaster=Blackpool.
