Starry sky, calm and down to -3c here tonight with sea fog lapping the coast round the Firth to the north of us , should make for some very wintry looking forests in the morning coated in rime.Ground out of the sun is slowly freezing more deeply every day as the frost remained in the shade all day. Snow if it comes will have no problem settling here.

Awoke to a glistening scene of whiteness with frost coating preety much every surface. A wonderful sunrise with some fantastic mackerel cloud formations. The day was a perfect winters day with blue sky wall to wall sunshine and no wind and with frost lingering in sheltered spots. Many cars in the shade kept frost cover all day. This evening is clear with an air frost.

I'm getting up early for what promises to be a wonderful day in the Lake District with sparkling visibility I hope. I plan to walk from Borrowdale to Langdale over the Langdale Pikes.

The Lake District is fairing very well with the current synoptics not that far away in Lancashire low cloud and fog has plagued the area, we seem to be in a little bubble of clear cold skies, superb!
