Hi,

This is a pretty interesting video it is filmed at the McMurdo station (an American base) in the Antarctic yes it looks nice and warm inside that building - the heating bill must be astronomical! But just look what happens when this lady opens the back door apparently they have a scale to measure the weather conditions there Condition 1 is the worst that means a windchill of at least -60C or winds of at least gale force (55 knots) - would you even think about going outside in that what do you think:

Pretty amazing stuff ah!

Here is another one actually going outside in such weather:

I would say even the most ardent cold and snow lovers on these forums may find this a bit too cold to handle LOL!

Yes, having watched it and noted the temps with the wind I doubt many on here would like that depth of severe cold.

Looking at the climate statistics for Scott Base and McMurdo (both at 77S), they both sound like awfully cold climates even for cold lovers. The mean max in January (summer) is -2C!

McMurdo is apparently the windier place.

Antarctica is also the windiest, driest and most mountainous continent in the world. It's very interesting in those regards but very inhospitable.

Despite that, Scott Base has about the same annual sunshine as London.
