The morning was blustery with brief light/sharp showers and sunny spells. It's now dull and heavy rain is soon to set it if the radar is accurate*.

Maximum so far of 9.6c and it's 9.0c now with 86% humidity. I think today's max may well be that 9.6c given that colder air should move in through the afternoon.

* It's quite amazing that over the last 12 days most of the rain has fallen in the afternoon hours.

A day of sunny spells and showers, with more general light - moderate showery rain following on after. One of the showers, amazingly, fell as hail around 2:00pm, which I didn't expect, but it has raised my confidence a little about seeing some light sleet and snow tommorrow.

The direction the clouds are coming from now seem to be moving in more of a Westerly direction (was moving from a Southerly direction earlier), and despite the cloud cover the temperatures have dropped close to 5*C. Really wouldn't be too surprised to even see something sleety tonight. The 981 hpa pressure, however, is rising.smile.gif

This is a fact:

It has now rained CONTINUOUSLY since 9am yesterday - 30 hours

Floods everywhere.... infact in last 2 hours the rain has picked up in intensity- no gauge to measure but we must be looking at about 4-6 inches at least!!

Just to our west (about 30 miles) there has been reports of up to 20 cm of snow - this is forecast to reach the east in next 3 hours -

temperature a very steady 3 c over the past 2 days...
