Heavy showers for much of the day, showers have been turning more wintry this evening with hailstones and gusty winds.

A very mixed day with a bit of everything.

A cloudy dry and mild start, the rain arrived mid morning and persisted until early afternoon, nothing especially heavy, temps around 9 degrees. We then saw a real clearance with some sunshine and it stayed mild at 11 degrees, around 6pm heavy showers and dark clouds with rumbles of thunder but still mild, temps at 10 degrees. This evening we have seen further showers with temps slowly falling to around 7 degrees - still mild.

Cumbria is sat right under the low, meaning winds have been very quiet and temps have been mild, we will loose the mild air in the coming hours as the low swings further north east allowing those cold uppers to descend and winds to pick up appreciably, tomorrow is looking decidely raw with heavy sleety/wet snow or showers on lower ground and plenty of heavy snow on higher ground.
