I agree that RichardR as a heat/warmth lover isn't best placed up in the Peak District. 12.4C there is not exceptional, not on a par with South Shields's 10.9C at any rate.

Yep, surely Richard has to realise living so high up in the peak district will not bring warm temperatures, especially on days like this.

Regarding the low temp at Shields, i have to say that is pretty low for the time of year, the sea temps has surely got to be a factor as well as the fairly cold upper air temps(lack of sunshine dos not help either mind!). Its also looks like once again the Met office has overcooked the temps whenever a Northerly comes along, i never watch any forecasts today admittedly but i'm sure they predicted 14-15C down Eastern areas on yesterday's forecasts yet according to XCweather, the temps down the eastern side of the UK are ranging around 11-13C. GFS has predicted the temps much more accurately for Eastern Scotland and England once again in these set ups and whilst it does get rightly critisized for its OTT low minimum's, whenever a Northerly comes along, it does tend to be more accurate with its maximum temperature predictions than the UKMO.

Spent the day out and went to kemble air day ( Now known as cotswolds air show) and i enjoyed the displays but a very brisk wind made it feel very uncomfortable during the whole day only improving very slowly during the day ended up watching the rest of the show in the car which was right next to the runway which was good.

Warmest Place in the UK here today?

I think the SW of England and the SW of Scotland had the best of the weather today. 21C was recorded at my local Met-O station according to WeatherOnline who show us as the warmest spot in the UK for the fourth time in the last five days. While the rest of the UK has had some cooler weather recently we have been basking in some glorious summer weather.

Sky has cleared completed this evening to leave a lovely bright glow to the north with everything silhouetted against the sky.

Turning chilly (and was that bit too cool for the bbq I went to today) now down to 10.6c already so will be quite cold tonight I think. Hopefully a bright sunny start meaning it'll be nicely warm by getting up time.
