Last Winter - Dare We Hope For A Repeat ?

As we head into the second half of summer, my mind started wandering to the onset of winter 2010-11, and whether it would hold the same levels of 'coldie' excitement. So I started looking through the pics from last winter again, and it reminded me just how good it had been. So here's a selection of my favourite pics.

20th December - the first proper fall

21st December - a good day for pics

25th December - a proper white Xmas !!!

A bit of a thaw over New Year, then the main event !

4th January - getting colder

9th January - another good day

11th January - very cold, the best day of all

Great pics! Hoping for a bit more snow next winter myself, while it was very cold in Ireland, many places had below average snowfall.

As for a repeat... Maybe? Or at least I hope so after what has been something of a misnomer stormwise so far in 'Summer' 2010.

Winter like this year would nice once every 10 years not a repeat and I fully expect it not to be repeated for a while. February wasn't excessively cold in the far south overall and there was only a few days of falling snow.

I admit, it was nice. Even if it did cost me new brakes for the motorbike.

Round here I saw sights not seen since the early 90's. Icicles, roof snow avalances and Deep sludge on the main roads, all road users - even the snobby drivers were very careful and showed courtesy not seen on our roads for decades.

I think we'll get ample precipitation of one sort or another ! I'm just hoping it'll generally be of the frozen variety !

I reckon we're in for another bad 'un/good'un but with a nice bit of slow moving/stalled frontal snow and 3ft falls..........back to my dreaming!

(I hope they've got a handle on the grit situation this year too!)
