UK Outlook for Saturday 27 Aug 2016 to Saturday 10 Sep 2016:

The current indications are that the latter part of August and early September will see changeable weather become established across much of the UK, with periods of rain or showers interspersed by drier and brighter conditions. There should be some warm days, especially in the south, but temperatures will likely average out close to normal overall through this period.

UK Outlook for Thursday 18 Aug 2016 to Saturday 27 Aug 2016:

A gradual breakdown from the dry and fine interlude is likely during Thursday and Friday with all areas having some bright or sunny spells but also some isolated showery and perhaps thundery outbreaks, though northeastern parts likely to stay dry. Some drier interludes are still likely, particularly in the east and southeast where it may be mostly dry. Temperatures will probably average out around normal, though some warmer days are likely at times, mainly in the south.

UK Outlook for Monday 22 Aug 2016 to Wednesday 31 Aug 2016:

On Monday northern and eastern areas should have a dry and bright start with some sunshine. However, cloud and outbreaks of rain already across southern and western parts will transfer steadily northeastwards, reaching many areas by the end of the day. Brighter conditions with sunny intervals and scattered showers are expected to follow across northern and western areas during Tuesday, but there is a chance that cloudier conditions with occasional rain will linger in the southeast. Thereafter there is no strong signal for any particular weather type to dominate. Changeable conditions look likely overall, with most locations expected to have dry and bright spells, but mixed in with showers or longer spells of rain at times. Overall the temperature is likely to be around average for August.

UK Outlook for Sunday 28 Aug 2016 to Tuesday 6 Sep 2016:

Sunday looks set to be very warm with some sunshine across England and Wales, but with the risk of heavy and potentially thundery showers breaking out during the day. In contrast, Scotland and Northern Ireland are more likely to be cloudier and cooler with spells of rain. Bank Holiday Monday is expected to be often dry and bright with some sunshine, though still with a scattering of showers around - particularly across northern and eastern areas. For the rest of the period, it looks as if it will be rather changeable, with spells of wet and breezy weather at times. The unsettled conditions probably most dominant in the north, with comparatively more in the way of warm and fine weather for the south.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 7 Sep 2016 to Wednesday 21 Sep 2016:

A flow of air from the Atlantic between high pressure to south and low pressure to the north looks the most likely weather pattern at this stage, giving rather changeable conditions. The weather probably most unsettled towards the northwest of the country, and most settled towards the southeast. With this regime, temperatures are expected to be near normal for September, though probably warmer than average at times in the southeast.

It is likely to be breezy in places with a fresher feel to the temperatures, but still warm in the sunshine. The rest of the period is looking unsettled, with bands of rain, some stronger winds in the north, but some drier interludes, especially in the south and south east. Temperatures on the whole may be around normal, but possibly warmer in the south.

UK Outlook for Thursday 8 Sep 2016 to Thursday 22 Sep 2016:

There is some doubt in the detail of the forecast for this period, but the most likely scenario is for westerly or southwesterly winds to dominate. This will bring changeable weather, with showers or longer spells of rain interspersed by some dry and bright periods. The heaviest and most persistent rain is expected to occur in the north and west, where it could also be windy at times. The best of the brighter weather probably occurring in the south and east. A trend towards drier and more settled conditions looks more possible during the second half of September. Temperatures through this period are likely to be generally above average, with any colder spells being transient.
