The current indications are that the latter part of August and early September will see changeable weather become established across much of the UK, with periods of rain or showers interspersed by drier and brighter conditions. The wetter weather is likely to be most prevalent across northwestern areas, with the best of the drier, sunnier conditions likely to be in the southeast. There should be some warm days, especially in the south, but temperatures will likely average out close to normal overall through this period.

However, cloud and outbreaks of rain already across southern and western parts will transfer steadily northeastwards, reaching many areas by the end of the day. Brighter conditions with sunny intervals and scattered showers are expected to follow across northern and western areas during Tuesday, but there is a chance that cloudier conditions with occasional rain will linger in the southeast. Thereafter there is no strong signal for any particular weather type to dominate.
