UK Outlook for Saturday 17 Sep 2016 to Monday 26 Sep 2016:

Fresher conditions will have spread across the UK by the weekend, with sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers look to be heaviest and most frequent in the northwest on Saturday, with the best of the drier conditions in the southeast. Showers should then become less frequent on Sunday with more areas seeing dry weather although windy, wet conditions may reach the northwest. Thereafter it will probably be rather changeable, with sunshine and showers interspersed by periods of more organised rain but also with some drier, quieter spells. The northwest looks to bear the brunt of the rain and showers, perhaps with gales here too. Southern parts should see more drier weather, but still with some rain at times. Temperatures generally near average; perhaps warm at times in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 27 Sep 2016 to Tuesday 11 Oct 2016:

The most likely scenario is for changeable and often unsettled weather to continue throughout this period. Many places should see showers or longer spells of rain, interspersed by some drier and brighter intervals. The north and northwest should see the greatest amounts of rainfall and also the strongest winds, whilst the best of any fine, warm and sunny weather is more likely over southern and eastern areas, although some rain should be expected here too. As we move through October there is an increasing risk of wet and windy weather becoming more widespread across the UK. Temperatures are likely to be near normal for the time of year, but perhaps warm at times in the sunnier weather, especially in the southeast earlier on in this period.

UK Outlook for Sunday 18 Sep 2016 to Tuesday 27 Sep 2016:

A dry start to Sunday for the majority of the UK, though it's likely to turn rather windy with outbreaks of rain in the northwest. This will move slowly southeastwards, with fresher and showery conditions following in behind. Through the rest of the period it will probably remain rather changeable with bands of rain moving across much of the country, these interspersed by generally drier conditions, but perhaps some showers too. The wettest and windiest conditions are most likely across the northwest and best of any drier weather in the southeast, though even here some rain is possible at times. Temperatures should be generally near average, though probably slightly above at times in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Monday 19 Sep 2016 to Wednesday 28 Sep 2016:

Outbreaks of rain will gradually clear away southeastwards during the start of the period, with generally drier and brighter conditions following in its wake. Across the far northwest, showers or rain are likely, along with stronger winds and this northwest-southeast split is likely to continue into the middle of the first week. Through the rest of the period it will probably remain rather changeable with bands of rain moving into the UK, these interspersed with brighter but showery conditions. The wettest and windiest conditions are most likely across the northwest and the best of any drier weather in the southeast, though even here some rain is possible at times. Temperatures should be around average for the time of year, though probably slightly above at times in the east and southeast.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 20 Sep 2016 to Thursday 29 Sep 2016:

Outbreaks of rain in the north and west, accompanied by strong winds in the far northwest, will gradually spread southeast through Tuesday and Wednesday, but the southeast will probably remain mostly dry and bright throughout and potentially fairly warm too. Through the rest of the period a northwest/southeast split is favoured. Generally unsettled weather is expected in the northwest, with showers or longer spells of rain and also strong winds at times, with only brief drier interludes. The southeast will see more in the way of dry and bright weather, with just occasional wetter interludes. Temperatures should be around average for the time of year in the northwest, but in the southeast they will probably be a little above average, with a warm feel at times.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 21 Sep 2016 to Friday 30 Sep 2016:

Wednesday should be cloudy in the north and west with outbreaks of rain, heaviest and most persistent in the north where it will also be rather windy. This rain will slowly move southeastwards, but southeast England likely to stay dry and bright. For the rest of the period changeable and often unsettled conditions look most likely. The northwest should see the wettest and windiest weather, with showers or longer spells of rain, near average temperatures and a risk of gales, with only brief drier interludes. The southeast could also get some rain at times, but there should be more in the way of drier and brighter weather, perhaps with a longer spell of dry and warm weather developing for a time.

UK Outlook for Saturday 1 Oct 2016 to Saturday 15 Oct 2016:

The most likely scenario for the first half of October is for a continuation of the changeable and often unsettled weather. Northwestern parts are likely to see the wettest and windiest weather, with only limited sunnier interludes. It looks to be generally drier and brighter in the southeast, with any wetter spells fairly brief. Temperatures are likely to be near normal for the time of year, but the southeast could continue to see temperatures slightly above average at times. There is a chance that settled and cool conditions may develop fairly widely towards the middle part of October, but confidence in this is very low at present.

UK Outlook for Thursday 22 Sep 2016 to Saturday 1 Oct 2016:

With a generally southwesterly theme to the weather during this period changeable conditions look most likely to dominate. The northwest should see the wettest and windiest weather, with showers or longer spells of rain, near or somewhat average temperatures and a risk of gales, with brief drier interludes. The southeast is also likely to also see some rain and cloud at times, but there should be more in the way of settled, drier and brighter weather. During more settled spells, however, overnight and early morning, mist and fog are likely. There is a chance of a settled spell becoming prolonged and seeing dry and warm weather developing in the south or southeast, for a time, but confidence for this is rather low, otherwise temperatures here will be around average.

UK Outlook for Friday 23 Sep 2016 to Sunday 2 Oct 2016:

A mostly fine end to this week for most. Wetter and windier conditions across the far northwest will gradually spread southeastwards over the weekend, most places seeing some rain by the end of next Sunday. Through the last week of September, the changeable, and often unsettled conditions look to continue. Bands of rain pushing in from the northwest will be interspersed with drier, brighter, but often showery conditions. The northwest always most at risk of the wettest and windiest weather, with a risk of gales. The southeast seeing more of the settled, drier weather, which may extend more widely by the end of the period. Early morning mist and fog are likely in the more settled periods. Temperatures will generally be near average, though locally rather warm in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Monday 3 Oct 2016 to Monday 17 Oct 2016:

There is currently very low confidence for details, however the most likely scenario for the first half of October is for a continuation of the changeable weather. Northwestern parts will probably continue to be most likely to see the wettest and windiest weather, with only limited sunnier interludes. Southeastern parts of the UK will continue to be favoured for seeing the best of the drier and brighter conditions, with any wetter spells possibly tending to be fairly brief here. Temperatures are likely to be generally near normal for the time of year, though parts of the southeast could continue to have locally warm conditions.

UK Outlook for Saturday 24 Sep 2016 to Monday 3 Oct 2016:

Through the weekend, it's likely to turn rather windy for all, with a risk of gales across some northwestern parts, though lighter winds across the southeast at first on Saturday. Cloud and rain in the far northwest should gradually push southeastwards, bringing rain to all by the end of the weekend, however starting dry and bright in the southeast. Through the end of September and into October, the changeable conditions look set to continue. Northwestern parts should see the wettest and windiest weather with a risk of gales, whereas southeastern parts should remain largely drier and brighter, though even here some rain looks likely at times. Temperatures remaining around or just above average for the time of year, though warm at times in the east and southeast.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 28 Sep 2016 to Friday 7 Oct 2016:

Unsettled at first on Wednesday with blustery, occasionally heavy showers across much of the country, these most frequent in the northwest, where gales are also likely. Persistent and at times heavy rain is then possible later Wednesday and through Thursday, bringing gale force winds to the north at times. This pattern is then expected to continue through the remainder of the period, with spells of rain mixed with brighter, drier but occasional showery interludes. The northwest should see the most of the wet weather, with a risk of gales. Drier in southeastern parts, but some rain and breezy conditions are still possible. Temperatures should be around average through the rest of September, but perhaps a little below average at times from the start of October, with some overnight frosts.
