dry at the moment with the temperature hovering on 0.1C after a low of -2.2C, overcast sky, had snow on and off after fog around midnight, about 1cm is all that has fallen so a total of 2cm over the last 2-3 days.

Monday 29th November 2010:

After an initial severe frost with the temperature falling to –7.5c, cloud increased and helped lift the temperature to –2.4c the maximum for the 24 hour period ending at 9am. Still the lowest maximum since local records began in 1991.

At observation, temperature falling again, very cold and misty with light snow falling. Hazy blue sky visible directly over head.

Very severe frost here this morning, as the temperature dropped to –11.2c with –13.6c on the slight snow cover. By far the coldest night since records began here in 1991.

There were long sunny spells through the day, but despite this the temperature only managed –3.3c up to 18:00, so another record, the lowest maximum temperature since records began back in 1991, the previous lowest maximum for November was –1.0c in November 1993.

Cloud increased during yesterday evening and a slow rise in temperature ensured that the 1993 November lowest max' record remained intact with a 24 hr max' of -1.8c by 0900 today. Periods of thick freezing fog overnight alternating with spells of relatively clear sky, the fog had cleared by 0600 and since then there have been one or two light snow showers.

Currently dry and cloudy with 7 oktas Cu, St fractus and Alst.

The temp' is -1.9c after an overnight min' of -4.1c and a 24 hr min' of -4.3c

Currently -3.0C with over night low of -7.9C... No snow what so ever but everything lovely and white regardless. So hoar frost in places when driving around.. Hoping that the snow will come in tonight... Ground rock solid will will certainly settle...

A very cold day here, mainly sunny with scattered clouds, had a very light snow flurry earlier on but nothing of any significance. An overnight low of -7.1c and the dewpoint got down to -7.4c. Local forecasts stating that snow will become more widespread ovenight, we shall see? Current obs;-

One of the unusual aspects for me of this cold snowy spell is that because its occurring so early, after each snowfall, beneath some of the trees is an even greater depth of fresh leaf fall. Obviously when it snows in the meteorological winter months this is not a feature.

Anyone else noticed this?

All the leaves were off the trees here after the gales early in the month, John.

A dry and bright day with 6 oktas Ci and Cu after light snow showers early this morning. Temp' still below freezing at -0.6c.
