Light rain falling here, though not quite as much as is currently being shown on the NW radar; just enough to dampen the roads. There's still the possibility that spring 2011 could end as the driest season ( of any )on record here.

May would have to come in with less than 64mm for that to happen and so far there's been just over 39 mm.

lol i hope by usual you are comparing it to other springs because you can't compare it to much since late March, we could be in for the warmest spring on record so dont tell me you are unhappy with that, why do people want heatwaves so early i want them after the summer solstice when they really can deliver, much better in July than late May.

Lets Just hope the conditions forecast for the next week repeat throughout the summer but i cant see it, i still see a very hot spell late may into early june. I suppose i can just hope the sun suddenly loses a load of its energy and the planet is plunged into summers of 10c and winters of -30c

today i have felt the coldest for along time outside going for a walk earlier, i wore a coat and still felt cold! some people in shorts and t-shirts, totally cloudy not the most stunning mid may day o: its that wind , i think back to the february tm airflow we had when temps reached 15/16c here, think it got warmer at times, but the point is today felt cold at the same kind of temps! can't wait until monday with this warmth coming in..

just nipped across to the Meto site and it hit 14.9c at Heathrow at 1500hrs, it felt cold, when we got a temp like this in february with tm airmass it was verymild air and i was not cold then. i was thinking about the thermometer can read the same but the air can feel significantly cooler or warmer

A miserable day here in the South Lakes. Overcast skies throughout with nuisance on and off rainfall - nothing particularly heavy. Lots of low cloud and that dank misty murky feeling. Also very chilly maxima of 13 degrees out of the precipitation, in it temps dropped to 9 and 10 degrees - not very good for mid May.

Unfortunately the next few days don't promise much in the way of sunshine, the dreaded westerly airstream is back and we know what that means here - low cloud, murk, drizzle or longer outbreaks of rain - mild at night but temps struggle during the day. This week is going to be a classic NW-SE split. Many of us by the weekend here will be shouting for the sun to reappear again..

After a clear start it quickly turned into a dull and overcast day with occasional drizzle and a chilly wind. The max temp was only 13.7C, so rather cool for the time of year. Only 0.2mm of precipitation though, as the Pennines again acted very efficiently as a block.

Currently 13.3C and 89% humidity, so rather mild for a May night.
