There are a few convective clouds building along the SE coast out from where I'm looking at work. I'm not holding any breath for today, but will keep an eye on things!

I wish mother nature would sort her life out today - it's been spitting all day , no proper rain - infuriating!

Lol at how any heavy showers or interesting weather is avoiding my area yet again today. They seem to curve around into S. Wales but avoid the SW. This summer is poor for even heavy/convective showers here.

One moderately heavy shower around lunchtime in Norwich, the pewter grey skies seem to be brightening up a bit with a bit of pale grey here and there....

Looks very stormy to my NW, looks capable of producing thunder, but none heard yet.

And the rain has started.

There has been virtually no lightning/thunder anywhere in the UK today even in the heaviest showers, so no need for anyone

to feel disappointed or let down.

And even where the showers are occuring they are so slow moving that they're only moving about 10mph and in that time they

seem to develop and then lose intensity.

Maybe an ingredient or 2 has been missing for them to turn thundery? Perhaps a degree or 2 too cool? Or perhaps things will

kick off more as we go into the evening.

It's bin day here tomorrow and I have to keep reminding myself of that fact as the neighbours wheel their bins out whilst doing thunder impressions

Does any one know if things will get any more exciting this evening for the SE or are we relying on the sun

I hope not, there's none here at all! It has all the appearance of a good storm here in Mid Sussex, even the birds are going a bit wacky but otherwise very, very quiet and not even a spot of rain.

The quiet before the storm, perhaps?

You've bin and done it now, PP.

All, It's looking very dark and my dear brother Lookup suggests it's backbuilding on top of us, see RG14 on the radar zooms for an example of heavy rain and no damn Thunder, argghhh :whistling:

Latest downpour has/had at one point produced a rain rate of 37.8mm/hr and currently I recorded 6.2mm with a fair bit more to come.

Still hopeful for a flicker or two, but getting desperate once again it seems.

Local flooding in the area of Newbury, Berkshire.

Cheers

Cheeky little 19.1 mm in the last hour according to the thatcham weather station. Put paid to my off road adventure around Greenham common.

hehe @ gottolovethisweather! :whistling:

Weather station says it's 19.3oC with 75% humidity. It's gone dark here plus eerily still and the air has a heavy, damp feel to it which is odd. Birds have gone quiet too and I've also got a "weather headache" developing now grrrr!

Wow, shows how most of the current rain shower/storms is passing on by, albeit very slowly.

Reports from my sister that Hambridge Lane/Road roundabout is impassable so envitably some local flooding. Let's hope it's not akin to 20th/21st July 2007 a la http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_United_Kingdom_floods

Stormy Cheers
