Rain All Day But Nothing On Radar!

Hi all

Is there a problem with the rain radar today?

The reason i ask is because it been raining all day here in Christchurch (south coast) but can't see anything on radar.

any explanation would be appreciated

It's quite common for rain radar to miss drizzle as it's hard for it to pick up the very small droplets

Has it been Drizzly Murky rain rather then heavy/moderate bursts? Sometimes local conditions (certainly in the current synoptics) can cause onshore winds to leave coastal areas in low cloud and drizzle which won't pick up on some radars.

It's been mostly drizzle but it was a lot heavier about 10 minutes ago. so what you both say sounds about right.

I have to say it's been the most depressing day ever and agree with most of the people the voted drizzle as the the MOST HATED WEATHER

I noticed this yesterday too, it was raining quite heavily for a while but there was nothing on the radar.
