Wow, amazing,

Am I right in thinking that there are places in China that witness this daily at sunrise?

Great footage Mr D. Pity the weather didn't play ball, though!

No. Solar eclipses do not happen on a daily basis anywhere on Earth. Where did you get that information from?

It was either a daily lunar or daily solar eclipse.

It was on the news a while ago.

Remember this like it was yesterday. I was on my hols at the time in a wee caravan in Stranraer, and I think it was only supposed to be something like a 70% eclipse from there. Anyway, about a half hour before the big moment, thick clouds rolled in and it became almost a non event. Sure it got a little duller for a couple of minutes but nothing else. The tv rolling in the background was showing a pretty spectacular sight only 4 or 5 hundred miles away though!

Cheers for sharing Mr D

No such thing but lets use some simple logic. A lunar eclipse can only happen during a full moon but a full moon only happens once in about every 29/30 days, so how can there be a daily lunar eclipse? Its impossible!

1999 was a disapointment, my folks in Cornwall were clouded out and in Scotland it was just a partial so I went to Side in Turkey for the March 2006 eclipse.

Just a sample from a beautifull holiday in a marvelous friendly country - so much else to see and do and the eclipse was simply the icing on the cake!

Couple of different exposures during the eclipse

Spectacular diamond ring just at the end of totality

And what a fantastic, atmospheric place to be able to view it from amongst the ruins at Side!

Technical stuff. Canon D60, lens: Sigma APO 500mm telephoto: f7.2

I can remember veiwing this through a welding mask, It's something i will never forget.

It made me think how small and insignificant we realy are, and that we can not control the patterns in nature.

I remember that well, I used a piece of blank x-ray film to look at it. Was a nice day where I was.

Then again that whole summer was nice..
