Blizzard conditions here in exposed areas. Mean depth of undrifted lying snow 21cm, and still snowing , driven by a NE wind averaging 42 mph. Distinctly remeniscent of late April 1981.

Well, no snow lay here, but we did have a power cut last night. It looks like I would have had a covering had it been snowing overnight rather than during the day - that is a common problem in April.

Another pic - on the horizon you can just make out drifting snow (that's about 450metres ASL)

Nothing at all here, very gusty but hardly any precipitation has fallen in the last 18hours. It appears that the usual suspects did well out of this again.

yeah, still pretty rough here too. i was going to a meal tonight in uppermill with the rest of my brass band. that will probably be off now as a lot of them are from over the hill in marsden/ripponden/holmfirth etc :( unbelievably, it was the christmas meal and we haven't got round to it as we have been so busy competing round the country etc. ironic that it should be cancelled due to snow .... in april!!!!

Any pics guys??

25cm drifts sounds very good..........but I need to see evidence!

:)

25cm drift ? there are 3 ft drifts here where the snow has blown across our lane, and that's just what I can see out the window. This is definitely the most severe snowfall in April that I have personally witnessed. I'll try and get some pics shortly.

About 7cm here and the ground cover is patchy due to drifts. Disappointing considering we have had 15 hours of continuous snowfall.

I would tell them to hold fire for a while, this has not got much more legs in it, certainly no more heavy falls and once it stops it will start to melt, cant see the forecasts of 7c but should make it up to 5c, depends how big the drifts are on the A635, A62, A672, if there are massive drifts feet and feet high then they wont melt but if its just a level fall of a few inches it will.

Just quickly took these from our upstairs window, (the usual angle if you've seen my previous pics !). Wind still strong so whilst I think the snow's actually stopped now it's hard to tell. Look's more like January than April out there.

Lol, that 25cm drift was around the village. Venturing up onto exposed countryside the drifts are to the top of my legs so I would say around 3ft. Level snow is around 20-30cm. Whiteout conditions over the tops just near to here, there were people up there in total disbelief at how bad it is. I was at total disbelief and I have been walking in the Peaks for many years. If you want to see snow then head up to the Queensbury/Mountain area, if you can get there.

wow the pictures really do show what a difference 'higher ground' can make to snowfall. Amazing drifts. Here's it's all a bit slushy (not that it was ever powdery white in the first place) and it's melting rapidly. The only flakes of white are the cherry blossoms petals on the ground, they are looking a bit sorry for themselves this morning.

Okay some pics too look at took on a sumsung so not great. Also see if you can spot the speed humps in the photos which is another reason why they're not safe.
