Wintry Spells During April 1994

On the 4th April 1994, Easter Monday, that year, cold polar maritime air flooded the country giving wintry showers in many places. What is interesting was the direction of the wind flow, WNWly and not a Nly flow. This shows that even at this time of the year, wintry weather is not just restricted to proper northerly or easterly flows.

I remember a band of wet snow moving through during the morning and then we had snow showers for the rest of the day

Friday of the 8th April 1994, was wet but it cleared during the evening and the sky had a real wintry look to it. The next morning we had a snow cover and snow showers during the morning but by afternoon they had cleared. The next area of preciptation spread southwards during the evening and this gave snowfalls in the SE overnight

I vaguely remember some wintry weather in April of 1994, I think we had at least 1 day with heavy snow showers. Indeed there was 4 year run with quite chilly wintry conditions at times from 1993 to 1996, a minor blip in 1997, and then another 4 year run from 1998 to 2001, however, since apart from 1 day in 2005, 2006 and 2008, most April's have been devoid of anything wintry, but this year wintry conditions have returned.
