i have seen rivers in the Rockies that never freeze over even when the temperature is -40c or lower

for those that love temperatures statistics and as a fairly comprehensive answer to which months were coldest try this link

shows what incredible run of seasons we had in 2006-7 the 5th warmest summer on record..followed by the warmest autumn on record...followed by the 4th warmest winter on record...followed by the 3rd warmest spring on record...phew what a scorcher!

It is 16c at the moment here in Plymouth,so talk of a cold winter is too far off as yet,whoever forecasts it.

I am expecting a rather dull,mild winter again. Other parts of the UK will probably get some traditional winter weather though,even if it is only for short spells..
