Just had a heavy snow shower here. No accumulations as it was quite wet, but proper snow nonetheless. Wasnt expecting that!

Currently 2.3C with a dewpoint of 1.1C so still very marginal.

Can see the next shower clouds just being lit up by the moonlight well into the distance, so won't be long before they reach Tyneside, what falls out of the sky is uncertain though.

Would love a very heavy hail shower which coats everything but I'm hoping for one proper snow shower which leads to a light covering which would be the first nighttime convective snowfall for 2 years!

Very intense squall thing along the NE coast now, probably hit east Newcastle and Sunderland most before falling down the coast into Co.Durham.

Yes GS, it's now been a long time! December 24 2010 I think. Mind you, the month between November 24 and December 25 was the most incredible thing I will ever witness (it's hard to think it can get better than that!).

Still rain here Im afraid, but the air and dew temperatures are falling so perhaps we might join the party later on.

Not sure why some people in the North East seem to be suprised that it is snowing, it has been showing on model output for the last week, right up until the event, yes it is unusual in oct and i would not have predicted it a month ago, no matter how favourable tc's were for NLB, however, it has been well forecasted by the well respected organisations like the Met O, BBC and of course this website!!

Looks too windy for an air frost here and the showers are moving N - S rather than NE - SW so we're buggered either way!

Dry here, but the sky has that lovely yellow tinge to it. Fingers crossed as the radar looks great.

It is indeed yahoo.gif, only experienced it once in my lifetime (Oct 2008), not expecting tonight to be number 2, watching the radar just in case though.

Yellow tinge in the sky is always a good sign in these conditions. It usually means snows on the way!!

Oh yes, i would be, and in some ways am excited, even though i am unlikely to see any, however, there have been comments like ' did not expect to see any'.
