Look forward to following this thread in the coming weeks. How is icecover doing this year compared to other years - it looks very low.. probably thanks to persistant high pressure over the poles meaning warmer than average SST's to our north, but things change very quickly as we head through September.

Ice is doing terribly at the moment(that chart above looks wrong too me regarding the ice), lowest on record by quite a fair distance and no doubt will set record breaking lows this summer despite weather patterns being fairly average although once again air temperatures will have been above average it seems.

Be interesting how much convection we see in certain parts of the Arctic as we head into September which may lead to quite widespread snowfall cover in the early part of Autumn if the right weather patterns comes along, especially in the Beaufeut sea where SST's are way above average at the moment.

It s exciting to think of all the fun and games we have to look forward to.

I can't wait to see those first widespread Siberian snows of the year , they always build up the excitement for me lol.

We are going to do alternate daily updates both me and I .F. but please feel free to upload any pictures , videos or links that you feel will add to the thread .

And remember , this is a fun thread so don't worry too much about getting excited and ramping it up a bit , after all................. WINTER 'S COMING!!!!!!!!!:D

There was me chomping at the bit for this thread!!

Ice cover looks more widespread but looking at a link BFTV posted I believe the cover is much much thinner. That's my deduction anyway

No change in snow levels, but the arctic ice has dropped quite dramatically compared to the day before.

Yes, and there is also a northerly burst heading down across northern/central Siberia next week, so we should hopefully start to see some bigger changed up instead of down. :D

Well as we can see for the latest update, there's been little change.

However, there are literally a couple of pixels in eastern Russia if you look had enough :D
