I remember the event well as it was a matter of days before I moved to Madrid for a year and then experienced another washout there on Friday 28th. The whole event dropped a might 145mm at my location and flooding was horrendous round these parts, only to be repeated again in November. As disruptive as the event was however, it was an exciting period of weather as the torrential rain was followed by gales then a thunderstorm here on the 26th.

Had about 75mm here which caused some flooding but not nearly as bad as July and November form similar falls thanks to the otherwise dry September. However I had of course just started uni at Egham, Surrey where it was just a normal rain event.

Remember this evening 5 years ago instead of child of nadine, we had an awesome display of silent lightning for over 4 hours!

Amazing how diverse September weather can be at times.

I think I remember it. I was (as usual I pick my times) flying from the UK to France. Can't remember the delay end of things, but do remember a very uncomfortable flight and two missed approaches. I remember feeling rather ill but being preoccupied looking after someone beside me ...

To this day, September 24th 2012 is my highest ever rainfall reading for a 24 hour period. In some ways I'd rather it stayed that way lol.

24th Sep 2012 was the day that I recorded a sub-10C high. That was a first for September (and the last). It also rained for 48 hours. No repeats this year please!

I remember this spell quite well. I remember being out shopping in Hmebase on the 23rd and the rain was absolutely pouring all day and evening with massive puddles and localised flooding on loads of the main roads. I also remember the sound of the rain on the corrugated roof being insanely loud. The 24th I don't remember any rain around so maybe it had cleared the SE but I could be wrong. I do remember it being overcast and I think quite breezy, though. Interesting spell of weather in what would of otherwise been a notably dry and anticyclonic September.

I was just pouring over some of my old station data from September 2012..
Up until the 23rd, I had only recorded 3.8mm of rain. Then 36.8mm fell on the 23rd, 22.9mm on the 24th, 5.6mm on the 25th, and 18.3mm on the 26th. 83.6mm in three days!

Of course after the horrendous rain, came the first strong winds of the season, or here at least, as the low moved northwards with a tight set of isobars.

7 years unreal, but sadly weather looks just as bad this time of the year again, this area sucks, it's the SE that need the rain, not here
