Showers are the name of the game here this morning, moving in off the Bristol Channel in abundance. Some drier and brighter intervals in between though. Cool feeling at 10C.

The day dawned sunny with CBs to the N/NW and S/SE courtesy of showers running W-E along the Bristol Channel and English Channel. These showers moved inland around 08.00-09.30 with a few sharp bursts of rain and a gusty wind before clearing away/dying out and leaving what has since been a mostly sunny late morning/lunch time period.

13.6c, 82% humidity.

Horrendous floods now. Rivers all over the fields even where newly cleared drains. . Little ditches running like torrents. The land is so full, it can take no more. Just been out to empty the gauge in case it would overflow before morning.

Had 18.5 mm, most of it in the downpours since 3.30pm.

So Oct total so far is 50.3mm

Still bucketing down. Looking very black all round.

I really ought to consider moving to the Bowland Fells, I'd almost give my right arm for weather like that.

On the northern and north western horizon I can see a line of Cb tops which appear to be the heavy showers affecting you and now moving towards the Manchester area.

Meanwhile down here it's been another benign and breezy day with sunny periods and the occasional spot of rain from a passing exhausted Cumulus or two.

An afternoon of sunny spells gave way to heavy showers around 5pm which continued on and off until around 7pm when we had a very heavy downpour lasting nearly an hour. It was running down the street like a river.

It's just started to rain again here again as well and looking at 'rain today' there's a lot more to come tonight.

No TM. You wouldn't want to live in these conditions. Garden written off and rotting. Walls growing green mould and cement being winkled out by rain. Roads and paths turned into rivers and eroded. Mud everywhere. People skulking indoors, or if venturing out are well sheeted up in waterproofs and wellies. Vehicles rusting. Gloom.

Still swillling down here. Can hear it roaring from indoors even though the TV is on.

As strange as it may seem, Rainy, believe me I really, really would. I love rain and as far as I'm concerned and the more there is of it the better.

Clear and dry here with 2 oktas Ac and Cu and a temperature of 5.5c.
