With lots of speculation about Sunday evening filling up and being reported/removed as off topic from the Model Thread, here's a separate thread for a nationwide perspective on tonight's precipitation moving in from the west.

Will it snow where you are? (Probably not :winky:). Lampposts at the ready.

At 83m you might get an hour or so of wet snow or sleet before it turns to rain. Even at this altitude I'm expecting only a brief whitening of the ground before it all gets washed away.

It should arrive anytime between 00:00 and 02:00 for us

Places like Redcar may see sleet rather than snow as there right on the coast

All depends really how quickly or slowly it moves but 3 hours minimum seems a good bet for the snow to last

Looking at the latest forecast from the beeb just before 13:00 online that could be too late all will depend on tonight's models will they slow the system down or not? the next 3 hours will be crucial

Well we had snow right on the coast here in Lowestoft last night from those showers running down the North Sea. We were incredibly lucky as we were just far enough east to catch a few of them. There was a light dusting on the ground this morning and I am barely a mile from the sea with an altitude of around 30m. I wouldn't write this event off for coastal areas just yet, especially with the flow being off the cold land as opposed to the sea!

Hi guys, as a lurker and learner im not a regular poster on here just an avid reader, but im located near portsmouth, its currently 1.7 degrees and falling (only got up to 3.5 today, not the 5 predicted) and the precip is approx 50 miles to my west at the moment, I know im not forecast an event of any sort but surely if the precip is heavy enough when it arrived and temp doesnt increase too much i could see some flakes on the leading edge before it turns back to rain?

The latest forecast from the BBC a few minutes ago on the news channel shows the snow moving through very quickly tomorrow and not lasting several hours in north east Scotland as shown on the week ahead forecast before, something must have changed quickly

Having lived fairly high up in the Peak District, I've always been used to situations where snowfall is almost always most likely to be heaviest and least marginal where I am rather than elsewhere in the region. Now I'm in Glasgow, it's the opposite. I realise the climate is even more oceanic to the west and south-west, but if it's snowing in Glasgow then it's almost certainly already snowing everywhere else. Glasgow is the 'last to get the snow', as it were.
