Third wettest October on record for us. 139.6mm by this morning. Doesn't look like they'll be much more though to add to the total. May reach 150mm.

October stumbled at the final hurdle, with just a trace of rainfall on the 31st, and didn't quite make 200mm. The total rainfall for the month was 197.4mm which makes it the 3rd wettest October on record here, behind 1998 and 2000, and the 14th wettest month of any in the last 36 years.

Not so much a statistic as a startling fact: It has now rained here every day for a month. The last completely dry day (0000-2359) was the 9th of October; since then there's been something every day, be it steady drizzle for hours (several days), unforecast showers appearing out of nowhere (Mon 5th Nov which was forecast dry) or just plain old frontal rain (several days again).

Yet for all that we've had no thunder or hail, and only one day in this spell with over 20mm. No flooding either despite the rivers having looked very full for 2 weeks, and the ground is absolutely sodden. Really cannot remember such a long run of rain days, even during those summers of 2007-12 and Octobers of 1998-2004 we got some dry days. The closest I can find was the 3 dry days between April 4th and May 5th 2012.

And more rain is approaching now, after we finally had a frost in the small hours....

45mm for the month which is well below the 81 to 10 average of 60mm, very little rain forecast for the rest of the month so we could potentially be under 50mm for the month

Rainfall for the year is currently 534mm which is slightly above the 81 to 10 average of 526mm till the end of November

Another 40mm needs to fall over by December 31st before we hit average

In the first half of the month, the whole of the average rain for November fell, but a dry second half means that November comes in above average but not excessively so.

January: 95.2mm (above average)February: 43.1mm (below average)March: 55.9mm (average)

April: 27.3mm (well below average)

May: 57.4mm (above average)

June: 28.0mm (well below average)

July: 71.7mm (well above average)

August: 58.3mm (average)

September: 69.9mm (slightly above average)

October: 128.5mm (well above average)

November: 80.9mm (above average)

2013 so far: 716.2mm (a little above average)

Only 8.3mm of rain needs to fall in December to reach average rainfall for the year, a feat I'm sure we will manage easily.

Have updated the 30 year average using the latest 81-10 figures from the Met Office. November finished at 155mm, a fair bit below the long term average of 205mm.

Year so far stands at 1,510mm. To reach average we will require a pretty wet December, unlikely but possible considering what the models are showing.

We're on 467.0mm for the year at the moment. Apart from 2011 (455.8mm), you have to go back to 1991 (457.6mm) and 1964 (454.1mm) to find drier.

The 1981-2010 average is 658.4mm, so unless the second half of December is a complete monsoon its going to be another very dry year.

Its quite an unusual pattern to have such a wet year sandwiched between two very dry ones. The last time it occurred in this area was 1958-1960.

Pretty dry December so far with less than half the normal rainfall with 38.2mm so far bringing the yearly total to 719.7mm. Tomorrow may bring the total up a bit before any top up towards the end of the year.

We're only on 14.4mm this month so far, everything seems to die out by the time it reaches here. Even today has managed just 1.6mm, I thought it might be the Davis not reading it due to the wind but the manual gauge agrees!

Still on course to be another very dry year.

310mm this month now and looks like a fair bit more to come, possibly to break the 400mm barrier by month's end? That would make it the wettest month since November 2009, the last month to do so  with 465mm. Who'd have thought that after the dry first third of the month with high pressure dominating and modelled to continue?

Currently 1,805mm for 2013 compared to long term average of 1,865mm.

310mm this month now

Quote from Reef: We're on 467.0mm for the year at the moment.

The contrast between west and east is very obvious this year.

A drier than average December and year almost certain here. The December total as of 0900 today is 84.6mm compared to a 30 year average for the whole month of 114.7mm

The annual total stands at 1013.8 mm compared to a 30 year average for the whole year of 1070 mm.

Up to 60.6mm for December now 69% of normal. Another 4 to add for today and say the same for tomorrow so guess a final figure of probably around 70mm to 75mm.
