Good time frame now... How about a little treat Thursday too?

Hi Surrey

Ian f has just posted saying met are ignoring that NAE..... for now....

NB Latest NAE progression across to meridian with PPN Thursday rejected for now and operational version heavily modified - in case anyone looks at raw stuff and starts hyperventilating. However.... Chief awaiting next UKMO-GM to be sure, so we await confirmation on expected evolution. Atlantic push of milder air much faster on new NAE through Thursday, hence much to play for in terms of broader evolution thereafter IF the NAE prog has any validity. At the moment... we lean otherwise.

He also said:

We are concerned. Just on blower to UKMO now. 6-12hrs snow possible parts of my area Fri. Not good.

Well I'll take it off your hands then Ian!

Then we get into Sunday......

We need to see that LOW tracking across France to be further South or rain/sleet will be a threat for at least coastal areas.

Will this mean snow in my area?? Just hope so as I got no snow at the weekend

Oh god, when will you give up with your constant "will it snow in my garden"?

Great enjoyment reading this thread as i was walking the dog through the park.

Just a quick question as i am away from my pc.

Is the latest runs showing cold to hang on and keep possible snowcover past friday if this snow turns up late this week? Or is it a temp snow cover followed by a quicker thaw?

Cheers all.

That is the best thing I've seen in a very long time... and frankly right now 2cm would satisfy me...

(Apologies for sounding like an out-take from a Carry On film - didn't realise the double entendre until after I've typed it!)

Blimey, if Ian Ferguson is concerned this could be quite an event. NB. He's obviously concerned for his manor, namely the SW but judging by the latest GFS we'll all be in for some fun and games.

The only concerns I'll have is if doesn't happen! ;)

Latest outputs seem to have, to my untrained eye, increased the snow risk Fri/Sat for the West Country and extended it somehat further north and east. Normally my children love my snow 'updates' but my daughter has a birthday party on Saturday being held in a school off the beaten track in the north Downs.... Nasty ethical clash between (1) concerned and sympathetic parent and (2) huge snowfan coming up? Time will tell!

Good to see everyone so optimistic.

After 3 separate sleepless nights lamppost watching, my optimisism has slightly faded.

Considering there are still 3 days away for downgrades or indeed upgrades to take place, I am now going to hold back until 24hrs before the event itself...

(oh and I am not supporting the above by any weather readings just simply the last set of experiences!)

Believe me, I am going to hold back until it's actually falling from the sky... good to have the possibility of something to look forward to though!
