at the insane rate this is falling, can us comfortably beating 2010, there is lots of reasons to be happy with this...perfect location and fresh injection of energy along with huge amounts of moisture...10/15cm guesstimate is wrong, we already have 4.5cm on the deck, and most of that from the past 45 minutes, could be very interesting depths later.

Indeed but it seems to be dying over our heads, losing energy for some reason. Just hope the moisture SW can reinforce it's intensity. Still coming down thick & fast here with the temperature at -0.8C, although got a feeling it'll turn rather light soon.

Just watching the BBC forecast, still only showing the snow reaching my area at 3.00pm. Er, think it might be here already!!

yes i do because i can see this stalling

I reckon it already has to a degree.

Looking at my radar between 0840 and up to 1040 there is almost no movement North East for the North West.

Now that the rain today radar is back up and running you can see that it is still moving NE even if it is slowly, its snowing now in Bury and it wasn't 15 mins ago.

Back to nothing again here now, can BC or HC give an estimate on what to expect for my area? Tyldesley

Should be a renewed injection of energy where you are in the next 20 mins or so, won't be as much as further SW but it's looking good, even as far north as you are!

Getting heavy in Southport.

I would think Meto will upgrade the amber warning?

this is looking like 2010.

The slightly heavier snowfall in a line from Liverpool to Stoke-on-Trent is stalled and only the lighter stuff is pushing North East... great for you guys further south & west hope you get loads you do lose out most times while those in the hillier east strike it lucky.

Preston still right on the edge of the heavier PPN..! Just needs to keep edging NE!

i got a feeling it won't. the first front struggled massively to move anywhere against the eastern cold block, to me sheffield looks to be the furthest extent east which tied in with the first front stalling last night. the cold air is too strong further east imo.

It'll be interesting too see how much Southport gets. Keep us informed!

Both the BBC, ITV and Met O forecasts have been caught out by this. I'm just on the edge of the heavier stuff, hoping it might nudge a couple of miles north-east!

It's not got any closer in the last 90 minutes and the met has put me back to 3pm :(

I can't read this thread at the moment, too frustrating.

Back later when hopefully the snow has moved the 10 miles needed.

People need sacking, all BBC Radio 5 Live could say all morning was "All of North West England will escape the Snow!". I'm sure Diane Oxberry was there with a whip or something! lol

there is a lot more than a few hours worth of snow down here. if it has stalled, it will be interesting to see how much we can truly get from it.
