chilly and dull

a few light showers and cold at night should the cloud clear

the unknown is after next weekend

2 or 3 days and the fax hopefully will help

Hi John hope things will not be too hard this week. Do you think March is going to be anything like some of your previous ramp charts? seems to me that the overall outlook will be cold.

I wish there was the slightest chance this will stay snow till it stops.

Plain old rain here now, still it was nice to see some snow earlier, but it might be a while now before we see any more.

time for bed now goodnight all.

Well there will be lots of friends on here thinking about you, once its over things will slowly get better,I know I have lost both my mum and dad,my dads funeral was delayed by autopsy/inquest and this was very hard but as I said before its better if its quick like your dads.Normality helps and I am impressed by the way you managed to carry on posting,I found I could cope using email but anything verbal was very hard. Good night mate.

From around 7th March the 850s are below -4C and at the same period precipitation largely increases...

so could be hinting at a wintry outlook.

I did expect some snow to develop tonight(as has done) i mentioned it last night. been to busy to make a snow map but if i did it would cover most areas! light-moderate snow. Had light snow on/off through Sunday, very cold, and the Evening was icy especially when the northeast wind blew, must be the same out there now! checking radar then lamppost..

its moving across now

question is how long will it be snow for

Exactly! Beginning to think that it might be too warm by the time it gets here.

There is a far heavier blob of ppn just South of Cambridge at the moment, is that rain or snow?? Any reports out there?

Even heavier, still small flakes, thought there would be some big ones with heavy ppn if marginal, confused.

0040hrs radar(this one only shows precipitation not type)

if correct

still holding as snow

That's a 1-2cm an hour snow blob up Cambridge way.

For the London zone should be snow, dew points/uppers/surface temps fine for snow

I'm down at Gatwick tonight - usual stuff as at home I thought - odd flake in the wind - went out for one last crafty smoke and its coming down moderately! Judging by the radar it will be at home in northants if not heavier soon!

Look how close the 510 dam line is to Shetland (4/3/13/ GFS)

This is very very cold airmass.. wonder where it's going after this chart!

Morning all

Been on Rotterdam all weekend, it snowed all day yesterday, but I guess the dew point was against us as nothing settled and its raining this morning. Back to Gatwick in a while for a week cool and cloudy by the looks of it.
