I've seen situations before where the band stalls, pivots then gains intensity temporarily from W-E (Irish Sea eastwards) before dying out. Wonder if this will be the same.

is it showing signs of doing.

It's the Northwich, Crewe, Altrincham triangle. I used to live in Northwich and didn't see snow either!

Cheers mate

Conditions have worsened here. Blowing full blizzard. Bt I haven't checked depth yet, but I'd suggest it must be about the same. Wind is horrific, the snow is blinding. Just got back from going to the supermarket. Everywhere is at a crawl. Can barely see 100m in front of you. There has to be a significant wind chill to this too. Very nasty conditions outside.

Still, this will keep intensifying through the evening and overnight. Could easily end up with projected 40CM+ at the intensity this is coming down. Winter wonderland out there right now.

Not that I can see. If it doesn't, this will be fizzled out by midnight.

We started with that amount earlier this morning before it was washed away with spells of wet snow. It's been a strange event this one Crew, by all accounts you should have copped a lot of snow. Just goes to show that it's best to ignore model output when it comes to snow.

Just isn't giving in here. Continuous. Not heavy but moderate, I think this is going to last a few hours.

Drove through Billinge earlier Dave and about 3 times as much snow in your neck of the woods than here. I think the extra 50m elevation and being slightly West from my location has made a big difference. We have a covering again now just about to post some pics.

I'm clinging to the meto, who have now updated my location to show heavy snow from 9pm, first time during the whole event it's shown anything other than sleet or overcast!

Any chance of a major pivot here?

Its fine, we haven't lost any intensification, if anything it's gotten to be even more intense. And I doubt we'll loose it anyway. Things are looking good.

There are still areas, mostly areas of grass which suffered a total thaw earlier, that the snow just won't settle on. Elsewhere it's doing fine, around 5cm of fresh snow since the afternoon. Dew point is 0c but it must be in the 0-0.4c range, rather than the -0.4 to -0.1 range. Colder dew points are set to move south later so this should help.

Just tried to upload some pics but getting a message telling me the file is too big. I could upload the same file size this morning, direct from the memory card but not now?

Anybody have an ideas why? Or how do I reduce the size?

Many thanks B_M :)

Actually thats not quite true. The amount recorded at 6am this morning was 5CM, then we had the little blip with the dp, and lost a good 3CM, but unlike yourself, we kept the snowing going, except it was that wet nast crap, people really hate, that never sticks even on dry surfaces.

Where in Liverpool are you? here the dp is -1.3C
