GALE force winds ripped a roof off a house in South Tyneside this morning

At 9am today residents living in Victoria Road, South Shields heard a load bang before a flat roof was torn from one of the street’s maisonettes.

Debris was strewn across the road as the resident, who was inside at the time, called for help.

A neighbour said: “It’s a small miracle nobody was hurt.

“This street has a very busy thoroughfare, there’s always people walking along it.

“We just heard a loud bang and saw the roof flying past.â€

Once these winds ease we'll be in the colder air it will be bitterly cold tomorrow temps 3c max sunny to start before turning cloud pushes in from the west this could give some light snow or icy rain for a time this could potentially arrive around the evening rush hour

Yeah quite a bit of snow in parts of Scotland now

Tomorrow night is a tricky one as parts of the region could see snow even at low levels but it all depends whats left once the band of rain moves west to east if it makes it over the pennines then some snow will fall on its leading edge

Temp 1.1 and dp of -2.3 so any shows now should be snow

At the rate the temp is dropping it should be subzero by 4pm

Showers looking sparse though unless wind turns true north
