Thanks for posting this - interesting read.  Remarkable pressure graph in the middle of the article showing pressure not rising above 1010mb at any of the three stations from 26 January up to the end of the sequence, and only very briefly rising above 1000mb once between 31 January and 16 February.  The difference on that January rainfall graph is also quite astonishing!

I haven't had chance to read it properly yet but tomorrow must have a closer look at the 1914-15 link. An interest of mine.
