It was positively balmy on the coast at Burton Bradstock this morning watching the cumulus form just inland.  Skies were hazily clear right on the coast.

Did anybody catch sight of the lenticular clouds over Poole yesterday, I saw a photo on South Today last night taken in the area, what a catch?

Some heavy precipitation over the Southampton area right now, just a tad too far to our east.

Nope, missed the clouds capture, shame that. The rain is pretty heavy and according to NX v6 radar now back up and running has produced a few sferics over Reading way during the past hour, slept right through it even if it had Thundered here. The band is trundling ever Westwards from the East.

Just saw bbc news weather ,10am ,and it looks to me that their graphics will be changed later to show the area of rain moving north and n/west even further west .this is based on current rain radar .so its a case of fingers crossed for any action and fireworks ,please keep reports coming in ,especially in the east of our region .Lets hope we see a good late spring and summer full of action ,Night time window rattlers ,and flashes to read the papers by ,cheers gang .

It has just been light rain here, again, a far cry from the thundery rain that was forecasted yesterday.

Currently 10.7℃ light rain but brightening up.

9.2c, 16.2mm and counting, a Winter-like day in Spring, no more please. Can't do nought about it I guess, but this is miserable stuff.

A pleasant day here and a quite good example of Cirrostratus progressively invading the sky preceded by Cirrus in filaments. Not easy to photograph, for me anyway, and get a reasonable contrast. You should be able to see the edge of the Cs.

The very light rain I reported shortly after 11 this morning came to nothing!  By the time I'd typed it, it had stopped and we've had no more.  It's now warm and sunny and a perfectly pleasant spring afternoon.

Sherborne was just about on the extreme West limit of the large mass of rain Lynn. It's clearing in Warminster now after 10mm fell between 09.00-14.00 but parts of Hampshire into Berkshire seem set to receive several more hours of heavy rain.

In a way it's amusing that the LOW swinging in tonight/tomorrow was flagged up as bringing heavy rain, but the band from that (already approaching Cornwall and the reason for the Cirrus in Knocker's pics) will sweep through in a few hours overnight whereas the plume created mass developed far more than expected in previous days - for example yesterday evening's forecast was for only showery rain moving North but some places have already had nearing 12 hours of persistent heavy rain!

Actually Andy it was a bit odd. The Cs did thicken up but then largely dissipated but you are correct as this Modis image shows at roughly the same time. Courtesy "NERC Satellite Receiving Station, Dundee University, Scotland" http://www.sat.dundee.ac.uk/

Yep Andy, sat at 19mm now after almost continuous rain for a good nine hours at least, a real washout and with a Max of 9.8c, still expecting further rain through the coming hours.

Yes, the 12 hour accumulations on the NW radar are very revealing.  We come in on the lightest of blues.

Dreadful weather here at the moment in Camborne, Trevithick day on Saturday and looks as though that is going to be a complete washout.

Apps and TV forecasts were way off the mark! Heavy rain showers all day? Not a drop fell, it has almost been the perfect day.

Currently 12℃

We've had some pretty heavy showers here today, and looks like we are going to get clobbered by a rather intense line of rain in the next hour.

Will it be safe to go fishing tomorrow? Don't really fancy holding 12ft carbon carp rods in the middle of thunder and lightning!

If it is as intense as what I drove through near Tiverton a few hours ago then get your boats back out!
