It started bright with half cover of thick Ci and some contrails; the airport in dense fog, this has now spread west and at times thick enough to blot the sun out, 3 miles down the road still sunny, a low of 4.7C and no wind

5th consecutive day of thunderstorms for us on the south coast. 6mm of rain and the storm seemed to decay around us. Where in the country is most prone to thunderstorms? We seem to get our fair share near Winchester, a high proportion of those are imported from our French neighbours during summer. Love them apart from the early morning alarm call!

Average days of thunder from Met Office annually and for October. Southern coastal regions do best for thunder in Nov-Dec but the E/SE is the place to be in summer.

Thanks for that update Bobby. We're well above average for the month of October then! Just heavy downpours here for the rest of today with temps up to 16'c so quite nice out and about in the sun.

Interesting how much it's changed since then. I think that map would look quite different 2000-2014.
