Don't know if this has been posted already, but has anyone seen this video of the lights on the M62 really swaying in the wind and snow yesterday?

Can't be a regular occurence surely

 

Looks like a possible example of mechanical resonance. Rather than just very high winds or gusts as such, constant winds can excite a particular oscillating frequency in the posts - like the collapse of the Tacoma Narrows bridge or Ferrybridge cooling towers.

 

With the showers aligned in the wind the snow is very hit and miss this morning. A good covering now in Warrington, mostly graupel to start with but mainly flakes now and dying out.

Only have to travel 10 miles south to see mostly green and bright skies til not long ago.

Could anyone please explain why here in Bolton there is barely sufficient snow to cover the ground while the rest of the NW appears to be inundated with heavy snow.

Looking at the radar it looks like the streamer is moving South and already brightening up here. Might get about another hour of intermittent snow showers here

Streamer has sunk too far southwards now. Was that our lot for this cold spell? We have about 2-3cm lying on the car roofs, same on the house & shed roofs, a little less elsewhere. It's still snowing, but despite the temperature currently sat at -0.1C, I can hear drip drip drip.

A bit pathetic really that airports motorways/roads and schools go to pot, I presume the roads have been gritted
