'I suspect strongly that lasting winter snow has now arrived to all locations! Full report to come over the coming days.'

I have been speaking with Dr Adam Watson (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Watson_(scientist)) about the snow that has fallen over the course of the last couple of days. We have agreed that the severe drifting and strong westerly winds have covered all the remaining snow patches, and that the snow patch season for 2015 is now finished.

A full report on the numbers of patches to survive, and on which hills, will follow over the course of the next few days when we have counted and agreed on totals. However, I can safely say that this has been the best year since 1994, and easily eclipses 2000, when 41 patches survived.

Well, folks, that's it for the season. Lasting snow has arrived to all locations in the Highlands.

A total of 73 patches of snow have survived to winter, which is the most since 1994.

Many thanks to everyone on here who has contributed. It's remarkable to see the level of interest on what is certainly a niche subject...

Attached is a list of what patches survived, and where.

See you in 2016!

A very good read here from firefly.

'My new blog entry is for the HARD-CORE snow geek. Maps! Graphs! Data! I hope you enjoy reading it at least twice as much as I did putting it together.'

What range was that? I'd not like to be up there in Tue, 123mm of rain and strong winds. Even for Scotland that's a bit excessive for skiing weather.

Summit temp -2.5 °C winds gusting 60mph SW with moderate snow showers on Nevis Range. Last night freezing levels sneaked above the summits for a few hours before falling away with some heavy snowfall on gale-force SW winds. Today will produce another 20cm of fresh with snow progressing to lower levels. Christmas day will have a few light snow showers and lighter winds of late.
