Can anyone confirm what type of cloud this is?

Took some pics in July last year, and I'm still not sure what type of clouds these are. I'm not really sure if the storm was a supercell, but theres a good chance that it was (Looked like it had a definitive hook on the radar, some serious rotation, lasted for a long time, and had decent sized hail). I thought they might be cumulonimbus, but I've never seem cumulonimbus clouds that look like this before, and they don't really look like mammatus clouds, but I'm not sure what else they could be.

There is certainly some turbulence there - my first thought was whether it could have been associated with a cold front?

Definitely not an Arcus - here's a classic example from the same date but in the north France.

 

 

 

I would agree with Asperatus but having said that, what would the sky have looked like if you were directly under either of these systems....

Nice shots!

 

Looks to me like a Whales Mouth formation to be very specific. The picture at the very bottom is the give away as you note it occurs just after the leading edge of the storm passes.

This is seems to be throwing confusion out there now..

The "whales mouth" is a shelf cloud, which is indeed, Arcus.

The confusion comes with looking at shelf clouds from a distance, with no obstructions, it doesn't look like the OP's pics.

If you're underneath or close by, with obstructed views- it will look like that.
