Torrential rain just after 11pm last night and again during the early hours quite a bit of flooding across the region this morning

The heavier stuff is further west than here - so far.
It did rain from midnight until 3am but only about 4mm

Horrendous conditions on the roads first thing this morning around the Bunopfield area and especially on the fellside road near Whickham with water a foot deep in places.

Not seen it as bad since the storm in 2012.

Two pretty decent consecutive days to end the week after utter dross Monday to Wednesday!

I'm liking these chilly mornings though, it feels quite autumnal as the tress start to change colour :)

Morning Col, nice to see you've got your first air frost. A minimum of 1.9c here and no sign of a ground frost. Hoping the Moors will be seeing its first snowfall in the coming weeks!

Edit: Car windscreen frozen :)

Yes we've had almost 5mm and plenty more looming.

Torrential once or twice - basically a serious wintry showers scenario but not that cold yet.

Haven't seen a radar like this for a while.

A much more lively spell of Autumn weather on the way.

On radar it looks like a wall of water but it seems likely to move through reasonably quickly. Up to 10mm for some places though.

Yes, notably mild today with the car thermo still at 16c now.

But the outlook seems to be reverting back to chillier evenings/nights which will be a little more seasonal thankfully.

As I'd not been online for a few days I missed the excitement of faux weather charts from the ECM which chucked out something colder. Glad I missed all that to be honest. Plenty of winter time disappointment ahead to be had yet!

After a run of cloudy wet days, tomorrow will see improvements with some sunshine and temperatures into the mid teens and feeling very mild for the time of year

Love this time of year. Leaves everywhere, nights drawing in rapidly and quite autumnal.

The rain this morning was really heavy here for about 2 hours or so.

Great for the central heating this weekend, but probably not feeling very seasonal for my liking.

Here it's been rather windy which partly breaks it up as patches flow over the moors then fragment towards the coast.- but still foggy on and off
Does feel raw and very damp despite fleeting sunny spells.

Visibility has improved significantly in the past 30 minutes or so I can now see the housing estate at the end of my road now which is a distance of around 643 meters
