So something I see often is some fantastic cloudscapes and weather photos by accident on google maps!

Whats your best?

Kicking it off with this one near Heathrow Airport!

What an unusual but brilliant idea @Surrey. In my line of work i use Google Maps most days, therefore, I will probably become a real pain in this thread! I will now be looking for interesting cloudscapes rather than doing what I am supposed to be doing.......because I never post / view the forum when at work....not! I would hope to make some additions in the next day or so....If I see anything interesting that is? Have a good evening!

I've always got my head in the clouds and am forever snapping photos of them.

Here's 2 from January this year.

Great idea! I also use Google Maps on an almost daily basis with my job and have already come across a few good ones, but stupidly didn't save them! I'll upload some soon as and when I can find them again. It's always fun finding ones with cbs or thundery looking skies, looking at the month it was taken in, then guessing the date.

^^ Ah yes, memories of the Thames overflowing when I was at uni in Egham then. I'll never forget what the Runnymede roundabout and surrounding fields looked like - quite incredible!

Meanwhile I've managed to locate one of the cool weather views I've come across. This one in July 2011 in East Dereham, Norfolk of a nice looking cb. I think the most convective period of that month was around the 05th-08th so I'd guess it was taken around then.

@Surrey @MP-R @TheBigFreeze @Clair_Witch I know this isn't cloud related, however, look what I discovered whilst in google maps.......

.56e2cc7a26566_BourneEnd.thumb.JPG.ebc8ff See anything unusual? :nonono:

56e2cc9a755cf_BourneEnd2.thumb.JPG.3cd9bNow that's cool!!

I wonder how many aeroplanes like these are on google maps?

Also, apologies for quoting you all, just thought this may get missed if I didn't as the thread is a little quiet! Have a nice weekend all! :D

To keep the thread ticking along, here's another one I've just come across of what looks like the edge of a cb cell with mammatus in Kettering in August 2014.

Wonder if we could restart this, it's an interesting idea. A few more I've found and not just recently, I do love exploring street view a lot!

December 2010 hoar frost parts of Coventry, likely on the 6/7th as I have pics that day too in nearby Warwickshire:

I did have one from January 2009 somewhere in Wales with hoar frost and mist / freezing fog but couldn't find it again.

This very menacing cloudscape on the A206 in Greenhithe near the ASDA taken in September 2008. There are other shots which showed it moved southward so this must have been on a northerly. Remember this one from my childhood.

Thia beautiful looking shower cloud taken looking east on the A13 by the M25 interchange in October 2008. I also remember this one from childhood. I used to browse StreetView a lot as a child. It was a way to explore.

Saw this rainbow captured on the A42 just as it merges into the M1 on the March 2023 imagery.
