April - Hobart, Tasmania

Absurdly warm for mid autumn with massive temperature records. I have graphed how spectacular they were below. They are for mean temperature ( 0.5C above the previous high ) and for mean maximum ( 0.8C above the previous high ). With 135 years of weather records from the Hobart site these are some of the biggest record to record jumps noted for any month, especially the mean maximum one. We are experiencing a very significant wave of heat and dry, which began last September,  with the last 8 months all being warmer ( most significantly ) and drier than average ( temperature anomalies 1981-2010 comparisons ). Rainfall Sep-April is 203mm ( 50% of long term ). Add to all this a record four month marine heatwave, with sub tropical like temperatures impacting on the fish farming industry.
