I fear from the models that the weak sun could ensure a cloud fest on this side of the Pennines however i'm pleased to see that it will be fairly cool post day 5 on the Euro.

On the other hand i thought it interesting to say that the Scandi High is going to create a lot of surface cold over western Russia potentially which is good news i think.

Much better today, plenty of sunshine and 16C. Pretty normal weather for the start of October.

The quiet start to Autumn will continue this week with high pressure over Scandinavia keeping the bulk of any rain out west with cloud amounts variable

Nice sky tonight. Once my new contract starts the pictures will be better.

A cold night just gone for most of the UK with temps widely in low single figures

Tonight will be the complete opposite with lows not dropping below 11c to 13c widely

2013/2014 was the only winter in my living memory that didn't have settling snow. Truly the worst. Sick of stormy wet winters, time for a dry anticyclonic winte.r

In other news, it fell to 2.6C this morning.Brrr!

The treads of a better winter are starting to appear, still way to far out to be trusted but hopefully they'll stitch together to give something more like winter and not the mild repulsive winters we've endured over the last few years, time will tell.

I'm looking at my energy meter, those figures to the right of the £ sign have already begun to rise.  How I wish I could hibernate until late April.

Flooding reported in County Kerry, Ireland after 151mm of rain in 36 hours

I presume the scandi high is indirectly responsible as its making the weather front stall and not allowing it to push on eastwards  so its just been constant rain there in kerry.

Very nice few days here, lovely Autumn sunshine and cool nights. Some beautiful mist early yesterday morning just draping the open ground here, very pretty and seasonal.
