Well from looking at the radar the storms are moving N/NE and getting pretty close to the south coast. It would seem to me that areas east of London will most likely miss out though on this first batch. Looking pretty lively though so could be thunder and lightning as the band moves up from the channel.

I do not quite know how the AROME performs with convection with 06z more emphasis is offshore compared to 00z annoyingly but it shows a region of organised thunderstorms (potential for a MCS) affecting the SE corner, where the most instability is. I'm sure there would certainly be sparks amongst that. If it all goes to waste It's time to find a new hobby. :hi::D

On the Sussex coast here... looks heavy to the south and west, the planes have got that droning sound to them that you get when it's stormy.

is now spitting with rain

In Romford this afternoon for a bbq, gorgeous day with barely a breath of wind. Hoping for some storms later, well after I leave. Looks like 25c will be reached again.

No thunder yet but it looks like the first downpour is arriving.

Chucking it down now, in the mauve on the Met Office radar, no thunder though.

Overcast and muggy here. I don't know what to expect weather wise as I've now moved 20 miles east. After spending 20 years in Maidstone I knew what to expect as the most exciting weather came up from the Weald or across the Downs and you could see it coming. Here I guess the Romney Marshes play some sort of part but don't know what...lol

Just posted this in the convective forum, but will post it here too.

Seems spot on judging by this afternoons rain.

But only time will tell.

That big blob of red could do with heading a bit more north say Bedford and get stronger as it does so.

Not like i want any stormy ness you understand.

The sun is out now again, the temperature I rising rapidly and the humidity is on the up. That rain was the warm front so we are now in the humid airmass, just a case of hoping it will destabilise spectacularly later.

Btw welcome Blazerblue, best of luck for a good light show later, I had the pleasure of spending the first 8 years of my life in Lowestoft and frequently visit family there.

Thanks, moved here from west midlands a few years ago, still not used to the winds we get here!

Even though the radar is showing rain coming this way, still disappearing before it gets here, although it is quite dark and cloudy. Fingers crossed we get at least a bit of a storm later tonight.

I'm not overly confident tbh, Can see it either heading more SW again or end up just a shower or two.

Evening guys, quick post as the girlfriend is dragging me food shopping

Had a good look through the 12Z ECM and latest run of UKMO UKV for tonight and it does indeed show imports reaching the South-East of England from 22Z onwards.

ECM (image below) shows a likely MCS arriving over the home counties around midnight whereas the UKMO shows the rain hitting us but the heaviest precip with thundery activity going up the Dover Straights.

Going to be a long night if you're staying up. All eyes to the radar and lightning maps :D

Edit: Plenty of cape around too according to ECM
