This cam is still going... just. Can see road in foreground is flooded and that poor parmtree is nearly disappearing up its own trunk.

Its near enough gone now- thats the cam and the tree. Almost no picture its that much rain / wind and the tree has a 30 degree lean :/

He's still there, being well and truly thrashed. He looks like my hair on a bad day..

Edit: Hector not Trump, unfortunately.

is this video for real

No it's not Irma, I showed the footage to a Floridian who told me it's an old video.

Once Irma make it's towards the USA that's when the models really do differ on its next move after Florida take D6 as an example

GFS has it moving through South Carolina whilst UKMO has it just moving out of Florida towards Georgia

Very interest to see side by side. The UKMO still has the most southerly track with a brief hit to Cuba while the GFS keeps Irma well away from Cuba.

Sunrise for St Barths is 11am GMT.

Looks as though the eye hasnt actually passed over it yet from the maps.

Morning all :)

Still huge divergence in the models as to the projected track. Most take it to the south or SE of Florida but GEM and DVD turn it away NE missing Florida completely while BOM keeps Irma hugging the northern coast of Cuba including a strike on Havana before a sharp turn north as a weaker feature and a landfall to the west of Panama City (the one in Florida, not the one in Panama).

GFS and ECM differ primarily on MSLP which are sub-900 with GFS and more in the 920s with ECM.

If you hit refresh it starts again. Some are saying "It's on a loop" but I don't think it is (and if it was im not sure how you'd tell!) Whoever makes that webcam should advertise the life out of it.

The very first bit appears to be Barbuda. Then prep footage in various area and back to the poor chap trying to stand up and present what's going on.

I have a pretty ill feeling that Barbuda is gone. I don't see how what I've just seen is in anyway survivable, except maybe in well-built underground bunkers/tornado shelters.

I wonder if they have any or enough shelters. :-(

Oh my.. (from 18 hours ago)

Hurricane Irma is so strong it's starting to show up on seismometers in the Caribbean -- equipment designed to measure earthquakes.

It's dead. You can see that the same footage is repeating for each refresh if you look closely. This is how livestreams die.

The debate about Hector' (palm tree) status is still going on in the chat thread next to the now non existent video feed.

I've read news reports that authorities in Antigua and Barbuda turned electricity off at midnight their time. If that happened those cams showed that moment but nothing further except those loops. Which indicates what we've been watching was hours before Irma's eye went over the island. How much worse did conditions get I wonder? Poor people.
