Ok you win LOL

I've just gone out to cover up my 'greek' plant, had it years and supposedly it's not hardy. It's done ok for the last 4 years but tonight I thought I bettter give it a helping hand, -14 is a very rare occurrence.

stroud even got a showing on the BBC 6 o'clock news tonight :0

though to be fair if your below about 100meters there is not much laying, it's the hills that have caught the big falls, and that's where the temps are liable to drop to the -14c.

today at 150m

Took a little drive north today and found winter in Wotton-under-Edge and surrounds. Amazing what a bit of elevation did for this 'event' - proper winter up there. Down here it looks like a cold night tonight then less cold after tomorrow.

Apparently, we're going to get -10C in Cheltenham.

No chance. I was meant to be getting -7C last night up here, but I ended up with -2C in full snow cover.

I wouldn;t bet against it being -10c or below in parts of the midlands tonight. It's already -4c in Pershore.

Well, my 'window dangler' read -15C in 2010... one degree off Pershore (official station) that reported -16C. We can get that cold, and we have a snow field.. we shall see.

Surely "Frosty Hollows" will win this hands down!!! We have snow cover here and it's currently down to -1.7C but reckon it should get way lower. Topped up antifreeze on all the farm kit today and the vintage tractors are all in an insulated shed for the next couple of nights!!

Our favourite Weatherman is unable to play in here but said I should pass on the following message.

The message to pass to the regional folk is keep across stratospheric evolution into late Dec-early Jan. Glosea keen on strat warming Jan; hints *perhaps* as early as late Dec. Either way, we suspect blocked, colder wx likely into Jan (as being progged now by GloSea) and clearly any SSW changes goalposts (70% chance it causes blocking NW Europe). Watch this space.

Is there a reason he can't/doesn't post in here anymore?

Daisy's been fraternising with Fergie!

Staggering variety across our region, tonight's minima will be fascinating.

I have friends in high places, what can I say,

I think it's a professional thing Danny, also as soon as he comes on here 90% of people are lovely but the 10% of keyboard warriors want to prove how much cleverer they are than the man with the meteorological degree so I guess it's not worth the grief it causes.

Met office predicting -11 but I'm afraid we're letting the side down here. Been hovering around zero all day and no sign of the temperature dropping yet. The lowest temperature I've seen here was 2010 when we hit -17.5c and it was already -12 by 8 pm! So I think the record stands for now in my back yard at least!
