List of deepest snow depths for Coventry:

image.thumb.png.12591a23c232f1ac4038cd7eebaac21f.png

January 2013 is the deepest i've seen here, followed closely by 13-14cm on 10th December 2017. December 1990 is the deepest in recent decdes with a soild foot. In recent years have had depths of 6-8cm such as 24th january 2021 and early March 2018 / 2023, but that seems to be getting less common.

The beast in 2018 delivered 28cm level snow in Ipswich at 120ft asl. Drifts in town were over 60cm with outlying rural areas significantly deeper. Don't recall it being deeper than that since I moved to Suffolk in 2006

5th - 6th February 1996 near Blackpool. No idea how much but thick on the ground by the evening of 5th and stuck around for a day or two before disappearing as quickly as it came.

S London / Surrey (to1989) - several contenders including late Dec 1961, Dec 1962 to March 1963, Dec 1978 to Jan 1979, Dec 1981 (probably the deepest overall) and Jan 1987.

Metwatch I remember Dec 1990 well. I was due to travel home from S London to Blackpool and got stuck in London for 2-3 days because of snow chaos in the West Midlands. My boss in snow-free Blackpool was not amused and I ended up taking annual leave when I got back to cover my absence..

Since 1993 when I began recording the weather the best level snow here was 14th feb 1994 at 12cm roughly. 1st March 2018 had drifts close to 25cm but whilst 50% of surfaces were close to nil.
