Well the BBC's zero degrees bt 7pm was way out! It's cloudy here, and the temp is falling quite slowly. I can't see it getting to the -4C that they predict.

Just a bit quieter in here tonight. Sunny all day today which made a change from sunny starts and clouding over later. The air frost count has finally been moving over the last few days with another one about to be added tonight, currently it's 0.0°C.

After reading the plethora of good posts by catacol and chiono last night, I feel as though the models will certainly be worth watching in the coming week/10 days. I would expect a run or two from the GFS will create some histeria within that time frame, as the modeled SSW begins to cause some chaos, tropospherically. Interesting to note, that the NAO, having been +VE for quite some time, shows a 50/50 split (dropping off vs maintaining +VE) by the 16th. I wonder if more members will start to trend downwards, or even -VE?

I don't claim to be an expert. However, I have viewed the teleconnections over the years just to see what may be going on. I wonder if that's some tentative signs? I'll be keeping a further eye on them.

After being stuck at 0.1°C it's suddenly dropped to -0.8°C in the last few minutes.

Yes - @matt111 it’s taken forever to drop here tonight. Now -0.3.

Im off to bed. De-icing required in the morning. Thankfully didn’t need to this morning but the car door was tricky to open! Air must have been really dry this morning.

Now accelerating down to -1.3°C which now makes it the coldest night of the winter so far here.

Posted to Facebook..... a pic taken this morning of the Wavecrest café at Lizard Point, Cornwall, pretty much the most southerly point of the UK and they had snow last night. I would cry 'unfair' but their long term lack of snow is far greater than mine, plus it's one of my favourite places on earth - the views, the café, bacon and now snow too, proof heaven on earth does exist :-)

It's a beautiful spot. If you're ever down that way go down to Kynance cove on the Lizard, take a walk along the coastal path to Lizard Point and you'll find the Wavecrest café tucked just off the path, down by the lifeboat station. I challenge anyone to find the will to move again once you've plonked yourself down on the veranda with a cuppa and a bacon butty.
