Extremely cold for this location.. currently -5.6C .. that's with a breeze too.. shows the depth of the cold

I’m really not convinced of any snow west of the M6 today, even though the Metoffice have upgraded my town to 60% risk at lunch time. The energy is just being sapped.

Depends on what you call west of M6, we have nearing on 3 inches, the heaviest fall of the winter so far, plenty more to come.

Yes.. hmm I cannot win although maybe tonight as there will be an ice day today. If we get snow then there will almost certainly be sub -10

The showers appear to be banding together to the east of the Pennines. Less blobby, more linear. Good news!

Has the wind got a southerly element to it now...

And what i wouldn't give for those showers furter north to be heading this way.... must have sone seriously deep snow up there

Wow has anyone seen the GFS today? It keeps us under <-8 850s  and sub 528 dam air in an easterly flow for all of the next week! No quick breakdown there. I’d gladly sacrifice a big snow to rain event for that. I expect we’ll get the northern edge of Fronts at times anyway.

Which GFS run is that?

Today's 00z has the -8°C 850 leaving this region by Saturday evening -

Stupid Quote bug! can't believe its not fixed after what 2 yrs ?

Any quite annoying but at the same fun with the snow here. The snow has been powdery and constant for days now yet the build up is slow. 4 inches or there abouts so far without the drifts. If only the heavier bursts lasted longer than 10-20 mins because I am pretty sure the whole region would be at stand still. The main roads are already terrible. We need some prolonged stuff now for the ultimate "snowed in" episode.
