I have a hunch that we (in the SW & Southern) could be looking at 7 days (from midweek next week) rather like 'that week' in Feb 2009.

Not quite NK. But here in Bristol i think we had 3 decent snowfalls over the space of about one week in 'that week' of Feb 09. It seems we're shaping up for some snow action towards end of next week thru the w/e for our neck of woods.

I have to make the drive down to Dover from South Wiltshire on Thursday evening, catching the ferry over to France, and then driving over to Belgium; then back to the UK Saturday morning. That should be fun..!
