Raining here for the past half hour with frequent moderate-heavy bursts

It's just started here. I was hoping for something a little heavier, but  it lost it's intensity sadly.

Keep it there, I say!     A real live summer at last.

Nice steady light rain all night, great for the gardens and smells so fresh.

the runner beans are running up their canes now!

temp is 19c.

No storm, thunder or lightning though.

Just after midnight the rain came after a dry day and its not really stopped all night, 9.5mm in total.
Its been brighting up a little in last hour with a tittle drizzle, but still a lot of light grey cloud cover.
Only 14.6c at the moment, but still feeling muggy with that very light NE wind.

Another grotty start in the south, a really disappointing couple of days with no sunshine. Going to be hard work to close out May with more than 5 or 6 hours of sun in the last three days.

With 3 days to go Bournemouth Hurn had recorded 261.7hrs of sun making it the sunniest May since 1997, and probably the sunniest since 1992. its a shame about the last three days of the month as second place was up for grabs really.

1989 317.4
1990 284.1
1992 279.5
1997 262

2018 261.7
1995 260.7
1998 246.9
1987 242.5
2001 241.5

It's strange to think that only 8 or 9 days ago we looked set for a stunning sunny and hot spell to extend a brilliant and dry May.

Then an unexpectedly wet day last Thursday showed the LOW to the South was getting closer than previously anticipated.

Now, compared to expectations and previous weeks, there hasn't been much sunshine for a week as well as a lot of rain which has all come from the East or South.

Meanwhile the stunning conditions are continuing only a few hundred miles North.

When we were woken by a monsoon shortly after 4am this morning I found myself contemplating if this pattern (weather coming from the East) could carry on until next winter.

Since the middle part of February any Atlantic driven weather has only lasted a few days.

Sunshine currently at 232.7 hours here.

The bits & pieces of rainfall over the last few days have put the total at 50.2mm, just a touch over average.

Though that's great, my area is now on blight watch - too humid.

Oh dear, hope you don’t get blight, what a pain that is, just when they’re growing away well.

Cross your fingers!

Ahh it must be close then! It would be nice to see it brighten up, even if it is the end of the day.

It’s trying. Only in the last few minutes but definite signs of brightness compared to before now.

Sun disappeared here. Fog also forecast for here tonight, not sure that'll be the case though.
