[Northern Strath]

Wet, cold and generally baws week to be out working in with some frosty starts. It was snowing for a wee bitty early Wednesday morning but not lying. Today started lovely with some blue skies with rain showers from mid-afternoon. Currently 1.1c and sleet, hoping it’ll get more interesting than that

A gale all afternoon, frequently pishy sleety rain. Now temp falling and heavy ppn is on. HOWEVER I'm distraught because the outside light (to watch said sleet turn to snow) bulb has gone and a new one doesn't arrive until tomorrow!! ARGGGHHHHH

Its been a blustery day...the radar is showing some juicy showers streaming in from the west with a little bit of cold mixed in.

The temp here is showing 3.1 deg/C during the showers and the cloud temp is -2.5 deg/C so its going in the right direction, who knows we might even see a flake or two of the white stuff.

Very pleasant day at the football today (not). It has been windy all day but not quite reaching the 50-55 mph that the met were suggesting.

Looks like ayrshire has got the brunt of this, some local power cuts, lots of trees down and even roof damage about. Quite surprised how much impact this has had.

You should try living by the sea - 50m from the shore, just shy of 20m altitude. Lying snowing is rocking horse poop. Don't you talk about being snow-starved

Yeah I just saw the long list of roads closed by the police due to fallen trees! It has been very wet and windy, but as you say it's not exactly been a big storm. I guess it's the completely waterlogged ground playing a big part too. Sleet has almost turned to snow here but looks like we'll be running out of precip soon.

Bloody scary out there. Battering heavy rain and the wind is roaring like a train.  Hate this!!!

1.6°C and it's hammering down with big wet gloopy snow. House has been shaking in the wind and that constant roar of wind and heavy sleet! Have set up a torch with focused beam across the front of the front room windows to watch the snow. Working fine and other half thinks I've lost it.

Heavy wet snow here at 2c with a fresh wind.   Pleased we hand lifted some neeps for inside cattle as run out of machine lifted as ground surface to wet now   .Actually a very usable day as we delivered a few loads of hay too.

Absolutely wild this evening. Horizontal sleet all night and blowing an absolute gale. Lots of flooding on the roads and many trees down across Ayrshire. Lots without power also. Ayrshire Police Division advising against travelling. A really dangerous evening and I don’t know how this didn’t warrant an amber warning.

Yep, if you look at the traffic overlay for the Kilmarnock area on Google maps all roads in and out are having major problems for miles. 

Approaching 2 inches of rain for the last 36hours here, again.... Still raining heavily in Ayrshire!

The precipitation has been pretty constant this evening, very slowly edging south.

Moderate rain at 4C and a bit of a breeze picking up..

Wet start first thing but clearing by 10am to mainly blue skies - the setting sun later on highlighting some nice cloud structures...

Max of 5c and a steady breeze.

Change this evening to some steady/occasionally heavy rain accompanied by a fresh NW wind - the rain turning slightly sleety on the higher routes coming back from Banchory an hour or so ago with the car recording a low of 2.5c.

The roads are very wet so guaranteed no salt left on them - going to be a skating rink first thing me thinks...

Hope everyone in Ayrshire managed to get some sleep last , would anticipate a bit of a clean up if my mums huge amount of updates is accurate bless her she was terrified she stays close to the beach so yet a direct hit

Hi Aggy was mental here last night howling gale n lashing down. Plenty of flooding...annick water and river Irvine burst their banks m77 closed to flooding...queens drive killie the main shopping area is closed to floods.. n I work in Queens drive so should be interesting Arnold Clark will be open !!!

Lovely morning. Blue sky, sunny and about 3c. Looking forward to a dry and chilly few days but doesn't currently look to be much snow on offer for round here.

Some great overnight snaw across the ski centres. Open lifts and piste numbers growing every day. 

Windy here, but clear blue skies. Will be a nice dug walk the day.

Looks lovely outside with blue skies and sunshine, but at 2.4C with a stiff breeze I'm assuming it'd feel raw if I could be bothered to venture outside. Overnight precipitation must have been largely liquid as no sign of anything more snow like even on higher ground around us. 

I'll see what this week brings. Forecast is mainly dry for here, but with a multi day yellow warning for snow and ice almost reaching me I'd have to be very unlucky not to see something.

It is indeed pretty unpleasant out there away from shelter, I was just out with the dogs and thought about heading up onto one of the Bennachie tops as it wasn't too bad in the woods. I got about 100m onto the open hill before retreating back below the treeline. More sunshine is nice though. 

No sign of snow on the surrounding hills here either so it must have stayed wet despite the splodges of heavy sleet on the Velux before i went to bed.
