Snap spring barley hopefully sprayed for weeds this afternoon by self propelled sprayer contractor a job that used to take 3 or 4 days done in an afternoon. Been in garden all morning  dutch hoeing . Most veg seeds on their way except parsnips but heat should help them. Currently 17c

Interesting situation down here.  Cloudy, but marked cloud clearance to the SE, visible from here and on satellite.  Pleasantly surprised that it is very slowly moving back NW'wards, with remaining cloud (15K feet high at Eskdalemuir) starting to dissipate too.  Some nice distrails (?).  Quite extensive rain apparent M8 to west A75, but little ground evidence, so probably evaporating before touchdown.  Small heavier patch Largs.  A very pleasant 16c, with places to the south (Keswick, Carlisle, Charterhall) currently UK warmest at over 18c.

I’ve had a migraine today, only ever get them around once a year and they seem to be spring or summer when they happen. I wonder if there’s a link to atmospheric conditions that can cause it.

Aberdeenshire Permagloom today with sporadic outbreaks of light rain merging from  5pm to persistent steady moderate rain - good for the crops though.

Even with the lack of sun, a respectable max of 16c with light winds.

A bit of a rat population explosion round here the last few months, farmer neighbour was commenting that supposedly they are now resistant to some of the usual poison they use.  Other half nearly had a heart attack this afternoon going into one of the outside deck boxes - opened it to find a Rattus Norvegicus looking at them.  Cue a squeal from both parties and out it ran out of the hole it had chewed through the side of the deck box - impressive set of teeth as never thought they could chew through that thick a bit of plastic.  Meanwhile the labrador looked at the whole commotion and did nought 🤨

Yesterday's largely dry and warm(ish) Aberdeenshire Permagloom has been replaced today with drizzly and cool Aberdeenshire Permagloom.

Must be nice being retired and therefore being able to use the useable days rather than sitting in work hoping the weekend is decent. Grass is badly needing cut in places but no real chance of that this weekend, so it'll need to be an evening job this week.

Some very welcome rain overnight although only 2mm.

The days all seem to merge into one at the moment. Sunny at times, 18-20c and dry. Very useable

Today is far more humid than recently, currently a warm feeling 19.2c with high level cloud. Looks very settled going forwards, quite normal for the time of year.

Not clever enough to provide direct link, but go to ITV Border 6pm evening news for excellent report on ‘Fallstreak’ reported widely S Scotland and N England (24 mins into the programme).
