Walking on Ice floes off Herne Bay in 1895

Incredible story that I found when searching through the newspaper archives on Herne Bay. It goes to show the incredible level of cold and that reflects in the station data. Although, I don't think I'd be that ballsy to walk on one even despite it being that cold!

Margate had 31 frosts from 22nd of Jan to 20th of Feb. 

Jan 1895 had a mean of 1.65c, Feb had a mean of -0.88c.

Jan 1895 had a mean min of -0.86c, Feb was -3.18c.

Can but dream! I do remember the river (Severn) here freezing over in 2010 but not hard enough to walk on!
